The world of politics moves fast. Having someone that can keep up is critical.
I was asked at an interview once how I coped under pressure. Before I knew what I was saying, I’d admitted to “screaming internally whilst giving the illusion of calm professionalism”. Though the delivery was slightly blunt, it wasn’t that far from the truth.
As glamorous and decadent as bartending looks, in reality it amongst the most emotionally and physically demanding environments you can experience. It took me a while to come to terms with those demands, but now there isn’t much that phases me.
I’ve got a wealth of techniques to cope with additional pressure, I make lists, I prioritise, I communicate, and I delegate. No task is insurmountable when its broken down into smaller, more attainable parts.
